Adam Neville Prize for the Best National PhD in the field of Cement and Concrete
The Adam Neville Prize for the best national PhD in the field of cement and concrete is sponsored by the family of Professor Adam Neville via the Neville Centre for Excellence in Cement and Concrete Engineering; the event is supported by The Concrete Society and The University of Leeds. The competition is now open with a closing date of 31st October 2021.
The award, a £2,000 cash prize, will be open to all final year students in the UK who are studying for a national PhD, either full- or part-time, in the field of cement and concrete. For the purposes of this competition, final year student also includes those who have undertaken their viva voce examination within three months of the competition deadline date (31st October 2021).
The prize will be given on a basis of a submission of an extended abstract, publications from the PhD project and a presentation at a symposium, which will take place on 9th December 2021. Applicants must be available to present at the symposium in order to be eligible for the prize.
The three criteria that will be used to judge the quality of the PhD thesis include: originality of the work; scientific and technical rigour; and significance of the contributions to practical applications in cement and concrete industries.
