Michael Kenyon is a Research Scientist at Innoval.
Michael will provide an overview of the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions associated with the global aluminium industry. He will then explore the solutions
required to achieve the targets set out in the 2015 Paris agreement and more recent sustainability conferences such as COP26.
Michael studied Physics at the University of Manchester but it was towards the end of his studies that he came across the Advanced Metallic Systems Centre for
Doctoral Training programme. The AMS CDT is a PhD programme that was setup to bring multidisciplinary people into the metallics industry, attempting to address
the skills gap in the UK metals sector. After successfully completing his PhD based on aluminium systems in 2018, Michael joined Innoval Technology as a materials
scientist. Based in Banbury, Innoval are a consultancy to the global aluminium supply chain, providing expertise in process control and improvement as well as
metallurgical characterisation and strategic planning.
In addition to his metallurgical work, Michael has more recently been working in the area of sustainability analysis. Michael helps his clients understand the
environmental footprint of their products and processes, highlighting areas to improve the sustainability of their business.
