Transforming Foundation Industries Forum
11-13th May 2022
Virtual
The UKRI-funded TransFIRe and Transforming Foundation Industries Network+ are pleased to announce the dates for the first ever Transforming Foundation Industries Forum.
The forum will be an opportunity for delegates to discuss with investigators the results of small projects funded by the Network+; to share experiences of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion practices within the foundation industries; and for stakeholders to consider the technical and socio-economic challenges that the foundation industries face over the next 10 years.
The Forum will include three sessions spread across 3 days. Each session will be 3 hours. By registering you will be invited to all sessions and can choose how much you take part in.
11th May 10:00-12:30 Workshop One: Transforming Industries from Within – our EDI approach
How do we become truly transformative within our industries? How can we become more inclusive and diverse in our workforces? What are some of the changes that we are making? This will be an opportunity to hear from practitioners and from industry, to share your experiences and help develop good practice guidelines.
Prof. Sue Black (Durham University), Prof. William Sampson (University of Manchester) and Jo Stansfield (Inclusioneering)
10:15 Developing our ED&I approach in Foundation Industries
10:30 How can we further build on EDI initiatives in our industries?

About the TFI Network+
The Transforming Foundation Industries (TFI) Network+ is funded by EPSRC as part of the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund to assist the wider academic and industrial community to exchange best practice and cross-fertilise ideas for the benefit of the six foundation industries: bulk chemicals, cement, ceramic, glass, metals and paper
Becoming a member of the Network allows you to advertise your expertise or business requirements to other members, identify other members who may have similar research areas for collaboration and submit applications for small project grants. Visit https://tfinetworkplus.org/ to become a member.
About TransFIRe Hub
TransFIRe is an UKRI funded proactive, interdisciplinary, inclusive research and practice driven Research and Innovation Hub with 12 research organisations and more than 70 project partners from across the foundation industries, trade associations, professional membership bodies, civic sector and government organisations.
TransFIRe brings foundation industries and their communities together through interdisciplinary research, to support resource productivity, competitiveness, equality, diversity, inclusion and climate action. TransFIRE is about looking at best practice and what common processes can be transferred between the industries, for example the minimising of resource use, lowering energy use and emissions, and using by-products. Email transfire@cranfield.ac.uk for more details and becoming a member.
