50th Institute of Concrete Technology Convention
23 June 2022 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
The year 2022 is unique for the ICT because the Institute will be 50 years old. By any standard this is an achievement and will be celebrated socially and technically. The anniversary is a very special occasion for the ICT, its members, and the concrete industry that it represents.
Over the last 50 years the Institute has staunchly supported education in concrete technology, resulting in respected qualifications, professionalism, training, and the provision of relevant information relating to all things concrete. It has, and still does provide, qualified professionals at all levels.
The last 50 years have seen many changes for concrete as a material and for the industry, whether you are a provider or a user. The ICT has remained at the forefront of these changes and contributed significantly to responsible adoption and, where relevant, to adaption.
As with all ICT conventions this will comprise a technical Symposium and a gala dinner. It will be an opportunity to learn and socialise in an atmosphere of celebration as this is the ICT’s 50th anniversary. This Convention will be a “one off” event.
The Technical Symposium programme for this anniversary is substantial comprising eight papers dealing with advances in issues emanating from each of the five decades 1972-2022 and will be given by recognised experts. The topics range from admixtures, Standards, supplementary cementitious materials, self-compacting and high-performance concretes, precast and low carbon concretes together with future developments.
There will also be a Sir Frederick Lea Memorial Lecture given by Professor Jorge de Brito with the title “Sustainable concrete – A review and prognosis”. Because this occasion is both special and exceptional it will take place in central London. The Technical Symposium will be at the Prince Philip House, Carlton House Terrace. The Gala Dinner will be in the Great Hall at the Institution of Civil Engineers. The guest speaker will be Dr. Roma Agarwal MBE, the award-winning engineer, author, and broadcaster.
