Hydrogen and Decarbonisation in the Steel Industry

26 May 2021

Teesside University Hydrogen Innovation Project is partnering with the Materials Processing Institute to present and discuss the impacts, challenges, and benefits that hydrogen can bring to support the decarbonisation of the steel, metals, and wider foundation industries.

The first in a series of webinars, this event will focus on the role that Hydrogen can play as an alternative fuel source for the Steel and Foundation Industries. The session will present the stages of the steelmaking process that fuel switching could be applied and discuss the transferability of the technology.

Further webinars in this series will cover the role that hydrogen can play as an alternative reducing agent in primary steelmaking and also the structural impact that hydrogen can have on steel materials.

This project is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020. Established by the European Union, ERDF funds help local areas stimulate their economic development by investing in projects which will support innovation, businesses, create jobs and local community regenerations.
