TFI Network+ Workshop – Roadmapping for the Foundation Industries
19 April 2021, 12:30
The Transforming Foundation Industries (TFI) Network+ is funded by EPSRC to assist the wider academic and industrial community to exchange best practice and cross-fertilise ideas for the benefit of the six foundation industries: bulk chemicals, cement, ceramic, glass, metals and paper.
The TFI Network+ management team have initially identified themes of common interest to the foundation industries: Energy & resource efficiency, Circular economy, Next-generation processes, Manufacturing informatics, Supply chain resilience, Equality diversity & inclusion, and Enhancing working practices. Although these areas of common interest remain pertinent, the TFI Network+ wishes to seek wider consultation from the various stakeholder to not only ensure the TFI Network+ is addressing the most pressing challenges faced by foundation industries but also identifying those areas where commonality and criticality dictate. The outcomes of the roadmapping exercise will guide future Webinars and workshops organised by the TFI Network+, but most pertinently form the basis of future calls for proposals. In this way, the TFI Network+ will better align the aims and objectives to the needs and opportunities of the foundation industries
Who is this workshop for: This workshop is aimed at those working in academia and industry who have knowledge, skills or expertise that can be applied to the foundation industries.
Aims of this workshop:
i) Open the conversation across the foundation industries and different stakeholders about those topics that are considered more pressing in terms of innovation, opportunities or need for rapid implementation to enable transformation
ii) Identify the common themes and challenges critical to further developing sustainable manufacturing and practices in the foundation industries.
iii) Implement these common themes into the remit of future activities to be organised by the TFINetwork+
Objectives of the workshop:
i) For the TFI Network+ team to present to the wider community an overview of gaps and commonalities identified from existing foundation industry roadmaps
ii) For industry practitioners to present best practices that may be applied across multiple foundation industries
iii) For the wider community to identify cross-sectoral priorities to shape future Network+ activities
