Hallam Wheatley will provide an industry overview provided by the Chemicals Industry Association on sustainability commitments, as well as providing a SABIC
example of Circular economy within industry.
Having successfully completed his A-levels in 2011, Hallam chose to follow an apprenticeship in Advance Laboratory Techniques where he spent time working for
across several analytical laboratories. In 2014, he moved to SABIC UK petrochemical in Teesside, working in their manufacturing lab for their olefin cracker, which
produces many of the worlds most commonly used bulk chemicals. In 2017, Hallam was promoted into Research and Development, where he began working on
cracker improvement projects for SABIC’s assets across the world.
In late 2018 he switched to two sustainability projects; Both the hydrogen, and the circular economy. Specifically the circular economy of plastics. In June 2020,
Hallam moved to the Netherlands with SABIC, into a Technical Marketing role, where he served as the LDPE product champion for Europe. It was his responsibility
to engage with SABIC’s customers over technical issues, or to help implement new grades.
Part of this job included helping to promote and implement SABIC’s TruCircle solutions into our customers. This is SABIC’s commitment to sustainability. In January
2022, Hallam began his new role as an External Collaborations Specialist for SABIC, helping co-ordinate research being conducted at Universities across Europe, for
SABIC.
