TFI Network+ Small Project Funding Call Now Open: Energy Efficient Manufacturing

TFI Network+ invites proposals for short term projects (6 months or a maximum of £56k at 80% FEC) in the area of Energy Efficient Manufacturing within the Foundation Industries. Proposals will be accepted in areas such as new low energy manufacturing processes, energy recovery systems and improved thermal management.

Scope of the Call

The Foundation Industries are energy intensive and require significant effort and investment if they are to meet net zero carbon targets by 2050. Significant advances are being made in different strategies to tackle this challenge, including the development and adoption of new low carbon energy sources. The TFI Network+ is therefore requesting proposals for short term projects (6 months or a maximum of £56k at 80% FEC) in the area of Energy Efficient Manufacturing. Proposals will be accepted in areas such as new low energy manufacturing processes, energy recovery systems and improved thermal management.

Application Process

Applications are being accepted from 29th April 2021 to 11th June 2021 via the TFI Network+ website.

Applications are only open to TFI Network+ members. To become a member, complete the online registration form. Membership is free.

Application form downloads (Guidance, Part A and Part B) are available in the ‘Funding application‘ section under ‘My Account’ which is accessible once you log into your TFI Network+ account. You can upload your completed application within the same section.

Eligibility

Applications will only be accepted from academic staff working in UK HEIs. Separate guidance for Early Career Researchers (PDRAs) is available for projects up to 3 months in duration. Full eligibility criteria and the scope of the call are available in the call guideline documents. Applications can be submitted by TFI Network+ members only. Each member is limited to one application as lead and one as co-lead per funding call.

Industry Support

Each application must be accompanied by an industry letter of support (see separate guidance for ECR projects). The letter should outline the importance and potential impact of the research as well as state the level of support given by industry partners.
